Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Text Box: What an exciting year 2023 has been for us. We started the year with a short trip to Jekyll Island, GA (one of our favorite places to visit) to look at the ocean and Christmas lights. Our next adventure was a 7 day cruise in Feb to the eastern Caribbean on the RC ship “The Wonders of the Sea”. We had a great time and took advantage of our deluxe beverage package (lots of rum). In May we embarked on a trip we have been talking about for years. We jumped into our red turbo Kia Soul and started driving. We went from Florida to Illinois, got on Route 66 and headed west. We took the mother road all the way to Santa Monica, CA. We then headed north, picked up I-80 and turned east towards North Carolina. From there, we headed south back home to Florida. We visited family and friends along the way, stayed in a bunch of motels, met some great people, and experienced some of the beauty our country has to offer. By the time we returned home, we had been on the road for 55 days, driven almost 9000 miles (14,500 km) and visited 24 states. It was an unforgettable experience. Mike made one more memorable trip this year. He went with his Dad, Mom, and sister to eastern North Carolina to go back to their roots. It was a chance to visit with family and see where his Dad spent his youth. It had been a long time since just the four of them had made a roadtrip. We continue to enjoy living in Florida and taking advantage of the freedoms retirement gives us. It has been a wonderful year for us but there has also been some challenges. Thankfully, the “good” has far outweighed the “bad” and every day is a new adventure. We are truly blessed. We wish all our family and friends a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
